If you are reading this, it means that you probably need some help or guidance.  I was in the same position 4 years ago when my son suffered anxiety and depression, had been hospitalized twice, attended outpatient clinics, and missed years of school.  He was holed up in his room and I had no hope for the future.  Josh Doyle helped us to unlock what seemed like a heavily armed vault though a series of well thought out steps and actions.   Through Josh's kindness and understanding (and great sense of humor), knowledge of Wilderness programs, therapeutic and non therapeutic boarding schools, our son followed the steps together with Josh and the vault gradually opened.  Josh was present every step of the way, following his progress, checking in personally with us and our son, and meeting with counselors, teachers and school Deans in school and when preparing for the next school.    It has been a true joy to work with Josh.  And thanks to him, patience and our son's hard work,  I am proud to say that the vault is unlocked and our son is thriving again.

Josh helped my family and me through one of the darkest periods imaginable. Without him I probably would not have found the right treatment programs for me. He was incredibly supportive and never made me feel bad for my struggles. Today I’m over six years sober and living an amazing life beyond my wildest dreams. I don’t think any of this would be possible without Josh!

I began working with Josh when I was 16. It was a time in my life where I felt entirely out of control. Josh is extremely intuitive and knows exactly what his clients need. He provided my parents with guidance and support and helped me get the best care possible. He connected me with a program that was a perfect fit for me and helped me gain confidence and hope.

I’ll always remember Josh visiting me in the middle of the desert during my stay in wilderness therapy. He arrived with my favorite ice cream in hand. This was the first of many experiences that made me realize just how much Josh cared about helping me succeed. I learned what truly sets him apart. Not only is Josh the most knowledgeable in his field, but his commitment to those he works with is unprecedented.

Over the years, Josh has continued to check in. He’s provided me guidance during the hiccups and support throughout both the highs and lows. I am now 25 years old with a family I adore, a job I love, and a life I never thought I could have. I don’t think I could have gotten to where I am without Josh. I will always be incredibly grateful for him.

Josh Doyle is a best-in-class educational consultant whose commitment to helping students and their families is unparalleled and limitless. Josh’s ability to understand and connect deeply with his clients is truly unique, and never in my twenty-five years as a Head of School have I witnessed a consultant extend himself or herself for the benefit of the child as far as Josh Doyle does time after time.

Josh is literally a kid whisperer.

Our family started working with Josh at a point where our families world was crumbling, and at a loss as to where to turn for our struggling, neurodivergent child. Josh stepped in, and with the gentlest of push took over. He suggested an initial program that we would have never found on our own. As most parents who face this level of struggle, we were used to making decisions based on our own research and limited experience in this area. Josh helped us understand the different treatment plans and provided options including the right programs and more importantly the right therapist match within the program. This detail was integral to our success, and something that as parents didn’t have access to. Our process was very time sensitive, and Josh was with us the entire way, guiding and making an incredibly painful process as seamless and easy as possible. As we continued our journey of healing, Josh came through with recommendations and support offering up years of experience and connections in his field. Josh has been an immeasurable asset to our child’s treatment team, and I can’t imagine trying to navigate this process without him. No parent wants to be part of the “treatment” world, but having an experienced, understanding, and supportive partner through this uncharted territory has been a lifesaving.

We could not be more grateful to Joshua Doyle.  He saved our son.

When we first contacted Josh, we were worried for our son and had no idea where to turn or what to do.  Josh treated our son and his care as if he was his top priority.  His professionalism, knowledge, compassion and empathy were evident in each of our interactions.

It was daunting and overwhelming to try to find the right program for our son, but knowing that Josh was working with us made the whole process manageable.  Josh’s years of experience made us feel confident that our son was in the best of hands.

Josh found a program that was a perfect fit for our son and after that we continued to seek his advice and professionalism for future programs.  Each referral that Josh made was exactly what our son and our family needed.

We don’t know what the future will bring, but we do know that because of Josh’s care and compassion, we have done all that we can to help our son and our family. We will be forever grateful to Josh and could not recommend him more highly.

We first connected with Josh Doyle when our son was in junior high school, as we were discovering that we were at a loss to find the proper educational environment for him.  In the 10 years since that first contact, Josh has been a lifesaver.  He has helped us through a number of crises, and has helped our son to achieve a great deal. Our son just earned his Master’s degree—and while the effort came from our son, we doubt that he would have made it this far without Josh.

We wanted to list just a few of the things we love about working with Josh:

  • Josh will get to know your kid. In person, or in today’s world virtually, he will take a deep dive into your child’s history. He’s great at asking detailed questions that don’t feel intrusive—just necessary for him to do his job.

  • He knows the schools and services that he recommends. Not just the kinds of services—he knows the individual leaders, and in many cases the teachers and therapists who work there.

  • His network is extensive and comprehensive.

  • He doesn’t panic. He has helped us maintain a sense of optimism and hope during times when we wondered how we would move forward.

  • He has a goofy sense of humor that takes the edge off of sometimes difficult conversations. This is true for adults—and even more so for kids, as Josh is, at heart, a kid himself (and I mean that in the best possible way).

Josh is caring, empathetic professional. He has earned our confidence, and we have no reservations about recommending him to any family in need.

I am honored to say that I have had the privilege of working side by side with Josh Doyle for the past two decades. He has always been committed to helping adolescents and young adults who do not fit easily into categories. He seeks to understand and goes beyond to know the needs of each client. His focus is to accurately assess, understand and guide. He is very good at this, and he clearly enjoys his work. He gets things done. His focus is not to make everyone feel good, his focus is to get to the point and meet immediate and long-term needs. My professional life is richer and more enjoyable for knowing him.

I have been privileged to work with Josh Doyle (serving as educational consultant to families with a child under my care in residential treatment) numerous times over the last 13+ years.  To put it simply, Josh “gets” this kind of work.  His compassion for families in need runs deep, and his ability to provide loving, compassionate support in one moment while delivering crystal-clear and direct feedback in the next, is second to none.  Josh has supported our program and families in successfully navigating many tough circumstances—each time being willing to ask the hard questions and demand healthy accountability while continuously supporting the ever-so-critical relationship between family and program.

Josh is the only consultant I have worked with that has made a personal on-campus visit to see each child he placed in our program.  Doing so has repeatedly contributed to trusting relationships between child and EC, which has been an immense benefit throughout the child’s treatment.

If I needed an Educational Consultant for one of my own family members, Josh is the first person I would call.

As dramatic as it sounds, I truly credit Josh Doyle as instrumental in saving my son’s life. My 16yo was inpatient at a psychiatric hospital for the 5th time in 4 years & I was told semi-permanent psychiatric hospitalization may be his final placement option. I was terrified; I believed we were literally out of options. I didn’t know what an “educational consultant” was, but someone told me about Josh (Doyle). Calling him was the best decision I could have made. When we spoke, I immediately began to regain a spark of hope. For the first time in years, I felt heard. Josh understood what my son was experiencing, how scared and sad I felt, and best of all, he reassured me that there were other placement options that could help. Using his vast expertise, he connected us with not only placements in a Wilderness Therapy program and then an RTC, but he pinpointed the specific therapists that he deemed best-matched for our son. He was precisely on point. One and a half years later, I’m so happy to share that our son is back home & he is stable. Josh has been indispensable. He is a consummate professional with a great personality and he works extremely hard to help our kids get to a better place.

I have worked extensively with Josh for over 10 years. I enjoy his breadth of knowledge, willingness to collaborate with professionals on many different levels, and his ability to tie professionals from various backgrounds together. He understands the therapeutic process very well and can help guide families so they do not get stuck in the “therapeutic weeds.” Josh is able to connect with the kids he works with in a unique way. He plays a strong role in each family’s journey rather than simply making referrals and checking in every now and then. He has been supportive to both families and treatment providers and is able to mediate quite well when pitfalls do occur in a way that helps move the process forward productively.

In my roles as an Admissions Director and Head of School, I’ve worked with Josh on many successful placements. I’ve always been impressed by the depth of knowledge Josh has about each of his clients, his advocacy for families, and his commitment to ensure the right match. I’ve also turned to Josh for help when students at my school were not successful and required a higher level of care. Josh has an exceptional ability to understand students’ social, emotional, and learning complexities, and to support families through difficult times.

I have known Josh Doyle for a very long time, having first heard of him when I referred a young person from my private practice to a non-traditional boarding school in Vermont that Josh worked at.  This young person, who thrived in the school, would come home during breaks and share how much this young teacher named, Josh Doyle, helped him understand his learning differences.  Many years later I would meet Josh Doyle, the educational consultant, and figured out it was the same Josh Doyle who had helped this young man many years earlier.  Josh is a smart, skilled and caring professional who will do all that he can to help as he has for his entire professional career.

I’ve worked with many educational consultants over the course of my career, but Josh stands out as one of my absolute favorites to work with! Not only is he clearly knowledgeable and skilled in what he does, but he does it with integrity, authenticity, and a sense of unparalleled humor—which is much needed in this work!

Today our son is a sophomore in college. Ten years ago, I did not think he would survive middle school. Josh helped us find an amazing program for middle school and junior high school. At the time it was a difficult decision, but it was a transformational experience for our son and the whole family.  Subsequently Josh helped us transition to a boarding school that had a caring staff and appropriate supports available.  The thing that differentiates Josh is that he really knows all the programs he recommends. He is always on the road visiting schools and programs all over the country, he knows the staff, and he understands what places will fit. In addition, once your child enrolls, he visits and stays in touch and is not afraid to make new recommendations should that be necessary. He really is an advocate for your child. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

We hired Josh Doyle immediately following our son's dismissal from a private boarding school. We met with Josh and he quickly, and very accurately formed an impression about our son. He arranged a psychological evaluation to help with placement, with a very competent therapist I might add. In short order, Josh presented us with several options. We narrowed our search to a couple of those, visited them and found just the right therapeutic school. Our son is thriving there, and in large part, we have Josh to thank for that. Josh has kept in touch and keeps track of our son's progress. A sure sign that he cares, and that he keeps tabs on how well his clients are doing at the schools he recommends for them. He is a consummate professional who will find a school for your child that fits their needs.

Thank you for trusting Josh Doyle.
